Hello, I'm using Sylvie 20 contraception, I'm taking it in the evening. In the 3rd week of the cycle, I forgot to take a pill in the evening and ate it the next day at 7 p.m. I took the next one at 9 p.m. on the same day. Can I feel safe? Finish taking them as planned and start a new package as always?

In this situation, the risk of reducing the effectiveness of the contraceptive pill should be taken into account. If intercourse has taken place in the last few days, the possibility of pregnancy should be taken into account. The summary of product characteristics does not provide for a special procedure to be followed in such a situation, therefore the details of further dosing of the preparation should be discussed with the doctor. Due to incorrect use of the drug, it is advisable to use additional protection (condom) for the period of bleeding and for 7 days from the date of starting the new pack (unless otherwise recommended by the doctor).
What if I started a 7-day scheduled break yesterday?

The delay in taking the pill was more than 12 hours, so the effectiveness of contraception may be reduced (especially in the 3rd week of use, when the 7-day break is approaching). Since you have already taken a 'forgotten' tablet, follow the procedure described below:
"After remembering the missed dose, the patient should immediately take the last of the missed tablets, even if it means taking two tablets at the same time. The next tablets should be taken at the usual time. As soon as the current pack is finished, the next pack should be started – this means that you have to skip the gap between the current pack and the next pack. There should be no withdrawal bleeding until the second pack is completed, nevertheless spotting or minor bleeding may occur in some cases during the days when the tablets are used."
In short, you should start the next pack of Sylvie without a break for bleeding. If you have been taking the pills as recommended so far, there is no need to use additional protection during intercourse.
In case of any doubts, I encourage you to use the teleconsultation with a gynaecologist - the service is available on our website in the e-visit tab:
