Hello, I have been using NuvaRing contraceptive rings for over a year. On Friday, I took out the disc. Can I set up a new system today after a 3-day break instead of a 7-day break? Will contraception then still be preserved without the need for additional protection?

It is recommended that you always take a 7-day break after NuvaRing removal during which withdrawal bleeding occurs. If the interval is shorter than 7 days, contraceptive effectiveness may be impaired, which means that additional methods of protection must be used for the first 7 days of the new cycle.

Inserting a new ring before the end of the week can lead to a decrease in protection against pregnancy. Therefore, it is recommended to follow the standard application regimen to maintain full effectiveness.
