Prolia (denosumab) can affect the immune system and bone metabolism, which in some cases can lead to an exacerbation of symptoms of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Musculoskeletal pain is one of the possible side effects of Prolia. It can be described as pain in the joints: A feeling of stiffness, discomfort, or pain in the joints, especially in areas where inflammation occurs. And also muscle pain: It can be described as general pain, cramps, or a feeling of weakness in the muscles.
As a result of the pain, patients may experience difficulty moving or performing daily activities.

If you have experienced an exacerbation of rheumatoid arthritis symptoms a week after Prolia administration, it is worth discussing this situation with your doctor. Additional tests may be needed and an assessment of whether these symptoms are related to Prolia treatment or are the result of other factors. Your doctor may also consider adjusting your therapy if they think your symptoms are too bothersome.
