"All data support an increased risk of breast cancer in women taking HRT in the form of a combination of oestrogen and progestogen or oestrogen alone, which depends on the duration of HRT.
Breast Cancer Risk:
- There has been up to a 2-fold increase in the risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer in women using combined estrogen-progestogen therapy for more than 5 years.
- The increased risk in women using oestrogens alone is lower than in patients using the oestrogen-progestin combination.
- The level of risk depends on the duration of treatment"
