Hello
I have a 3-year-old daughter. The child has a fever. He gives her Ibuprom for children. I read that I can give my child the drug every 6 hours so I did it, and now on the leaflet I see that there should be a maximum of 3 doses a day (we got 4). Can something happen? I was very scared that we had predosed the drug. My daughter is 14 kg - I gave 2.5 ml.

Giving ibuprofen to children requires adherence to specific doses to avoid the risk of overdose. For children weighing between 10 and 15 kg, like your daughter, the maximum dose of ibuprofen is 300 mg per day, which is equivalent to 2.5 ml of the drug (200 mg/5 ml) administered a maximum of 3 times a day, which means that doses should be spaced out at least every 6 hours.
If you administered 2.5 ml four times a day, you gave a total of 400 mg of ibuprofen, which exceeds the maximum daily dose. Although ibuprofen is generally safe and does not accumulate in the body, exceeding the recommended dose can lead to side effects. In the event of alarming symptoms, such as abdominal pain, vomiting, drowsiness or other unusual behaviors, it is recommended to consult a doctor immediately.
In the future, to avoid similar situations, it is worth checking the drug leaflets carefully and following the dosage recommendations. If the symptoms of fever do not subside or worsen, you should also consult a doctor.

Is such a dose dangerous? Should I see a doctor after such an overdose?
