Why the drug Bunondol should be used sublingually and should not be swallowed?

Why can't you swallow tablets?
Of course, I will use it under the tongue, as intended, but I can't find information on what this is due to. What happens if I swallow a tablet?

The active substance in Bunondol, buprenorphine hydrochloride, is well absorbed from the oral mucosa, but also from the gastrointestinal tract. However, due to the fact that oral administration is inactivated in the intestines and liver, this route of administration is not recommended. This may be due to a reduced effect of the drug.

Bunondol sublingual tablets should be used as follows: Put the tablet under the tongue and hold until completely dissolved, do not chew or swallow it. In case of dry mouth, rinse the mouth with water before inserting the tablet.
