The orange ring at the base of the tank in the Saxenda pen is designed to indicate how much dose has been administered and how much medicine is left in the tank. When the ring does not fall off after injecting a dose, it can suggest several potential problems, like:
- incorrect use of the pen (the dosimeter has not been set correctly or the injection has not been performed correctly). Make sure that the needle is in the skin for the right amount of time (usually 6 seconds) for the full dose to be administered.
- blocked needle - then the medicine may not flow freely, which prevents the ring from falling. Try replacing the needle with a new needle and injecting again.
- Technical problems with the pen - in rare cases, there may be a technical problem with the pen mechanism, which causes the ring to not move. In such a situation, it is best to contact the pharmacy where the pen was purchased or directly with the manufacturer.
