Hello, I've run out of Dobroson sleeping pill. I have Olanzapine, Ketrel, Latude and Depratal in my medicine cabinet as well as Swanson supplements (n.k. L-tryptophan) - of course for sleep and depression. What should I take from it for sleep and how much do I have a week before the doctor's visit? I suffer from severe insomnia, greetings

All of the drugs listed (Olanzapine, Ketrel, Latuda, Depratal) are prescription drugs, therefore it is not recommended to use them or, if they are currently taken, to modify the current dosage without consulting a doctor.

Olanzapine and quetiapine (Ketrel) are neuroleptics indicated, m.in others, in the treatment of schizophrenia or severe and severe episodes of mania. Their very common side effect is drowsiness. These drugs may be prescribed in lower doses, off-label by a doctor in certain cases, for the treatment of insomnia. However, they are not the first choice in the treatment of sleep disorders, and the desire to use them should be consulted with a specialist. Based on clinical experience and full information about your health and the course of the disease, your doctor will be able to choose the optimal treatment. You can read more about off-label treatment here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/leczenie-off-label-poza-wskazaniami

When it comes to L-tryptophan, this compound supports the functioning of the nervous system. It is a precursor of serotonin, but also of melatonin, which is responsible for maintaining the correct circadian rhythm. Therefore, it can help fight insomnia, but the first effects are visible only after about 2 weeks of regular use. Before implementing it into therapy, it is worth consulting a doctor.

You can find more useful information in the previous answers, m.in mentioning Depratal and Ketrel:

If contact with a doctor is currently difficult, I recommend using the teleconsultation on the Gdziepolek.pl portal:

I would also like to point out that, as a rule, Dobroson should be used for as short a time as possible. According to the manufacturer's instructions, the treatment period should be a few days to 2 weeks, with a maximum of 4 weeks (including a gradual tapering period*). In certain cases, the doctor, after assessing the patient's condition, may decide to extend the duration of treatment beyond the maximum period.

*According to the Dobroson documents, rebound insomnia may occur after stopping it abruptly, so it is recommended that the dose be reduced gradually. There may also be mood changes, anxiety, anxiety. These symptoms pass over time.
