Can nicotine be used during allergy patch tests?
10.00 zł

Hello. Yesterday I had allergic patches on to indicate whether I am allergic to metals. Can nicotine be delivered to the body while wearing the pads? I have surgery in 3 weeks and I will have surgical steel placed under the sternum, so can nicotine interfere with the reading of the pads? I don't want it to turn out that I'm allergic to metals and the result won't show it. I will add that I delivered nicotine last night from nicotine pouches (I attach photos).

Nicotine itself is not a substance that could directly interfere with the results of allergy tests, including patch tests. The main purpose of these tests is to examine the skin's reaction to specific substances, such as metals, rather than nicotine.

However, nicotine has the potential to affect the overall condition of the skin, such as causing irritation or excessive sweating, which can indirectly affect the interpretation of the results. However, this is unlikely. Before allergy testing, it is usually recommended to avoid substances that can irritate the skin, such as alcohol or new cosmetics (nicotine is not mentioned as one of the things to avoid). However, it is worth informing the doctor who conducts the tests about the use of nicotine.
