Could EllaOne not work?
9.99 zł

Good morning. On the day of my vacancy, I had intercourse with my partner, but the condom was damaged. About 15 hours later, I took an EllaOne tablet. It was July 13. On July 27 I should have had my period, but it didn't come. Yesterday, i.e. August 8, I did a test and it came out positive. In addition, bleeding appeared today. Will the pill not work and I am pregnant? And did this bleeding occur after taking the pill?

Ellaone is highly effective if taken within 15 hours of unprotected sex. It is an emergency contraception that is most effective when taken as soon as possible after sex, but can be used for up to 120 hours (5 days) after it.

An important issue is that EllaOne works by delaying ovulation. If ovulation has already occurred before taking the medication, it may not be effective in preventing pregnancy.

The bleeding you experienced is also a possible phenomenon after taking emergency contraception, but there is a chance that it occurred for a reason other than the "after" pill. In your situation, it will be best to go to a gynaecologist who will be able to unequivocally confirm pregnancy or lack thereof. In general, taking into account the fact that you took Ellaone quickly - it should not work, but it does not give 100% effectiveness every time.
