Mysimba is a drug used to treat obesity that does not cause addiction because it does not contain psychoactive or narcotic substances. Its action is based on two active substances: bupropion and naltrexone, which affect the nervous system, reducing the feeling of hunger and controlling food intake.
Depression is not directly mentioned as a side effect of Mysimba, however, bupropion, one of its components, is an antidepressant. However, it is important to note that Mysimba is not indicated for people with affective disorders, including depression, suggesting that people with such problems should avoid this drug.
The minimum duration of use of Mysimba is 16 weeks, after which your doctor will assess whether you have achieved the expected weight loss (at least 5% of your initial weight) and may decide whether to continue or stop taking the medicine.
