Why is Medikinet 30 mg extended-release only working for 2 hours on me?
I am taking Medikinet 30 mg extended-release. It helps, but it only works for 2 hours, then I don't feel any therapeutic effect. It starts working 25-45 minutes after swallowing the capsule whole (depending on how much I ate on a given day and how long it was from the meal to the dose). If I open the capsule and swallow the contents, the effect starts very quickly and also lasts about 2 hours. Why is my body metabolizing this drug so quickly and is there anything I can do about it?

Medikinet CR 30mg is a modified-release drug, part of the dose is released immediately and the rest at a later time. If your body metabolizes the drug quickly, it may result in a shorter effect, even if the drug is taken in an extended-release form.
To improve the efficacy of treatment, dose adjustment or switching to a longer acting drug should be considered. It is also important to discuss with your doctor any medications you are taking, as they can affect the metabolism of methylphenidate.
