Should asymptomatic E.coli infection be treated?
15.00 zł

During the gynecological examination, a swab was taken. The results showed that I had Escherichia coli (numerous+++)
However, I have no symptoms or diarrhea, no pain, no itching, and my ovaries are fine. Should I take an antibiotic as a result? If so, which one? And is it contagious? Can I infect my partner during intercourse?

The presence of E.coli in the vagina can eventually lead to a symptomatic infection. If this happens, treatment is necessary.

@Joanna Dunajska if I have no symptoms? Is it dangerous?

The introduction and selection of appropriate treatment in the case of symptomatic and asymptomatic E.coli infections is decided by the doctor. Based on the patient's health condition and test results, the specialist selects the appropriate pharmacotherapy. In order to find out whether antibiotic therapy is necessary in your case, contact your gynecologist.
Bacterial infections are contagious, it is possible to infect your partner during intercourse.

If contact with a gynaecologist is difficult, it is possible to use teleconsultations through Gdziepolek:
