Can Terbinafine be used long-term?
Can you take Terbinafine for more than 40 weeks, the doctor recommended 2 weeks, 1 tablet a day and then once a week, improvement can be seen, liver examination does not indicate side changes. Thank you for your reply

The typical duration of treatment with terbinafine is 6-12 weeks, depending on the location and severity of the infection. Treatment takes as long as it takes for a new, healthy nail to grow completely. Treatment of nail fungus can be long-lasting, but it ends when the desired effects are achieved. Treatment of skin mycosis usually lasts from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the type and severity of the infection.
Terbinafine tablets are usually not used for long term beyond the recommended treatment period, unless your doctor tells you that it is absolutely necessary. Long-term use may increase the risk of side effects and liver damage. Regular monitoring of liver function is recommended during treatment - if nothing has happened so far and liver function is normal - please continue to use the drug as prescribed.
