Indications for the use of Nitroxolin forte include short-term treatment of acute infections and exacerbation of chronic recurrent lower urinary tract infections (cystitis, urethritis) with microorganisms sensitive to nitroxoline in adult patients. Nitroxoline is a chemotherapeutic agent with antibacterial and antifungal properties. One of the reasons why the drug is not effective may be that the bacteria or fungi causing the infection are insensitive to nitroxoline.
