Is it possible for the doctor to indicate the dosage of Estazolam as half a tablet on the prescription?

Does the doctor have the possibility to mark the dosage of estazolam on the prescription as half a tablet, e.g. 1x0.5, or can he only recommend this dosage orally during the visit to divide the tablet?

Yes, the doctor has the option of marking the dosage of estazolam on the prescription as half a tablet (e.g. 0.5 tabl. 1 x daily). He or she may also recommend this method of dosing orally during the visit, and it is in accordance with medical practice.

The dosage of Estazolam is determined individually by the treating physician. The typical dosage for adults is 1 mg or 2 mg half an hour before bedtime. However, for older adults (over 65 years of age) or patients with certain medical conditions, a doctor often recommends half of the usual dose.

It is worth noting that regardless of whether the recommendation to divide the tablet is written on the prescription or communicated orally, the patient should strictly follow the doctor's dosage instructions. Estazolam, as a benzodiazepine drug, requires careful use due to the risk of addiction and side effects.
