Cipronex is the trade name for ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone group. Ciprofloxacin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, skin infections and gastrointestinal tract infections.
In the context of abdominal pain, Cipronex may only be helpful if the abdominal pain is the result of a bacterial infection for which ciprofloxacin is effective. Examples of such situations are: bacteria that cause traveler's diarrhoea (e.g. Escherichia coli), bacterial intestinal infections (e.g. Salmonella, Shigella), diverticulitis of the large intestine with infectious complications, urinary tract infections that can cause abdominal pain.
