* Heart failure: initially 25-50 mg per day. In severe cases, your doctor will increase the dose to 100-200 mg per day. The maintenance dose is the lowest effective dose given daily or every 2nd day. If the patient responds inadequately, the doctor may add cardiac glycosides and/or ACE inhibitors to the treatment.

* Oedema of specific origin: your doctor will determine the dose individually; maximum dose 50 mg per day.

* Renal diabetes insipidus: initially 100 mg 2 times a day; The maintenance dose is usually 50 mg per day.

It is important that you monitor your blood potassium levels regularly while taking Hygroton. Your doctor usually recommends these tests before starting treatment, after 3-4 weeks, and then every 4-6 months. These regular checks suggest that the drug can be used for a longer period of time, but under close medical supervision.
