Hello, I have been taking amitriptyline for 30 days at a dose of 10 mg (at night), now I have been prescribed Asertin at a dose of 50 mg. Is it safe to stop taking Amitriptyline immediately and start taking Asertin?

If your doctor so recommends, you can switch from Amitriptyline to Asertin without a transition period. Usually, the "overlapping" method is used, i.e. a gradual reduction in the dose of one drug and the simultaneous introduction of another.
It should be borne in mind that when changing treatment, withdrawal symptoms of the previous drug may appear, which patients often mistakenly identify with the ineffectiveness of the new drug. Therefore, for the first 2-3 weeks, a temporary deterioration of health is possible, which you should be aware of. Of course, these side effects may or may not occur in every patient.
