Melodyn 35 is a transdermal patch containing an opioid analgesic. The duration of action of this type of medication may vary depending on the individual characteristics of the patient. The first assessment of the analgesic effect of the preparation should be made after 24 hours.
First of all, make sure that the patch is properly applied and has good contact with the skin. The manufacturer recommends that you apply the patch immediately after removing the cover, press it firmly with your hand and hold it for about 30 seconds. Recommended application sites are the upper body, e.g. upper back and subclavian chest. Before applying the patch, remove skin hair with scissors (do not shave).
If the mother is already using the second patch and is still in severe pain, it is worth considering consulting the attending physician again. Sometimes additional pain medication may be needed to achieve adequate pain control. Your doctor may decide to adjust your dose if the current dose is not enough.
