Klacid and Romazic can be used together if the prescriber has informed them of all the preparations they are taking.
Romazic belongs to the group of statins. Caution should be exercised when prescribing clarithromycin together with statins.
Clarithromycin (Klacid) causes an increase in the concentration of statins metabolized by the cytochrome P450 isoenzyme CYP3A4, which intensifies the side effects of statins. Cytochrome P450 enzymes have a weak affinity for rosuvastatin, therefore drug-drug interactions resulting from cytochrome P450-mediated metabolism are not expected.
