The dosage of Clacid (clarithromycin) is not correct according to the recommended guidelines.

Klacid (clarithromycin) is a frequently prescribed antibiotic, but the standard dose for children depends on body weight and the specific clinical situation. A dose of 7.5 mg/kg body weight twice a day is usually recommended, which for your child (44 kg) would be around 330 mg twice a day. A dose of 250 mg three times a day (750 mg a day) is higher than the usual dose for a child of this weight.

Please note that the dose depends on the severity of the infection, the susceptibility of the infecting microorganism, the patient's condition, age and weight. Only a doctor can make a decision on the correct dosage because he knows the health condition of his patient.

Knowledge about age and body weight is insufficient information. Too low a dose may be ineffective and instead of curing, it will only cause bacterial resistance to this antibiotic.
