1) Can you drink alcohol while taking Metypred?

Do not drink alcohol during treatment with Metypred because of the increased risk of side effects such m.in gastrointestinal bleeding, gastrointestinal disorders, liver damage.

Alcohol can be drunk only 1-2 days after the end of Metypred treatment.

I encourage you to read additional materials that may be useful:

2) Can diarrhea occur after Metypred?

Yes, diarrhoea can occur as a side effect of Metypred. According to the Summary of Product Characteristics, various gastrointestinal complaints may occur, including diarrhoea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting and other digestive disorders.

If your diarrhoea is severe or accompanied by other worrying symptoms, such as blood in the stool, you should contact your doctor immediately, as this may require a change in treatment or additional medical intervention.

Exactly. All changes regarding the dosage and discontinuation of the drug should be made by a doctor. For your own safety, you should not make modifications to the therapy regimen yourself.

Glucocorticoids have anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. This means that they are used to treat, m.in others, inflammatory bowel diseases, dermatitis and eczema, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, muscle tissue inflammation, lupus.

Antibiotics are drugs used for bacterial and fungal diseases. They fight pathogenic bacteria and fungi spreading in the body, inhibiting their growth and facilitating their elimination by the immune system. Indeed, antibiotic therapy should be fully completed. Premature discontinuation of the antibiotic, after 2-3 days, as soon as improvement occurs, promotes the development of bacterial resistance to the antibiotic and does not eliminate the bacteria that caused the infection. This may result in the lack of effectiveness of the antibiotic in the event of reinfection, or a rapid recurrence of the disease.

Thank you for your answer. All changes in medication must be decided by a doctor anyway.
Just out of curiosity is a steroid not like an antibiotic? So we have to choose the whole antibiotic, and steroids can be taken in different ways? That is, 3 days or 7 days or 2 months as long as the doctor recommends.

Metypred 8mg Tablets in the Morning
I have 7 days without reducing withdrawal Although family suggests 7 days 8 mg and 2 days after 4 mg And can you take a metrypede eg 4 days after 8 mg and 3 days after 4 mg Of course before that I will talk to the ENT and family doctor to make a decision. Here I would just like to know if it is possible with this drug

Do you mean Meropenem? It is an antibiotic for solution for injection or infusion. Probably a typo crept in and it's about Metypred :)

I am sending you materials that should dispel any doubts:

Thank you for your help, you know, the final decision will have to be made by myself with an ENT doctor or family doctor:)
And can the Metrapen steroid be taken for a shorter time? E.g. 4 days Mon 8 mg and later 3 days 4 mg

I understand that two doctors' opinions may raise questions. If you are concerned about the effects of withdrawal, you can of course follow the suggestion of your family doctor. This will not affect the effectiveness of the therapy and you will feel calmer.
However, I still believe that with such a short-term therapy, you should not feel any consequences of discontinuing the drug.

Thank you for your reply.
The laryngologist gave it for 7 days and said nothing. The family doctor said that it was better to take off steroids and it was the family doctor who suggested the 8th and 9th day for 1 tab. and the drug was taken by the ENT specialist for 7 days

Such short-term use of Metypred should not affect the occurrence of any symptoms due to sudden discontinuation of the drug.

Please remember that the doctor prescribing the drug was aware that you would only be using it for 7 days. If it were to have health consequences, he would certainly mention it. Especially since you are going to travel by plane.

If you have any doubts, it is worth contacting your attending physician.

If you do not have such a possibility, you can use the teleconsultation here:

A "withdrawal syndrome" can occur after sudden discontinuation of glucocorticoids. However, this usually happens after long-term use of the drug, and then it is indeed recommended to gradually discontinue the drug.

Symptoms of this syndrome include anorexia, nausea, vomiting, somnolence, headache, fever, arthralgia, peeling of the skin, myalgia, weight loss and/or hypotension.

Your doctor prescribed you a drug with a strong anti-inflammatory effect in such a dose, probably due to the upcoming discharge and the need to heal the sinuses in a short time. I would advise you to follow his recommendations and stop using the drug after 7 days without having to modify the dosage regimen yourself.

I am sending you materials that may be helpful:
