There is no information in the literature on the interaction between the escitalopram contained in Escipram and reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) and D-ribose. However, due to the fact that NADH participates in the synthesis of neurotransmitters (such as m.in. serotonin), affecting the increase in their concentration in the body, caution should be exercised when combining both preparations. Concomitant use may increase the risk of side effects or exacerbate existing ones, due to the potential to induce excessive levels of serotonin in the brain. This may result in serotonin syndrome, the symptoms of which include, m.in, fever, sweating, increased heart rate, chills, increased reflexes, anxiety, mood changes, loss of consciousness, diarrhoea, (uncontrollable) muscle cramps. These symptoms may or may not occur, it depends on the patient's tolerance to the preparations taken and the doses used.
The willingness to use a supplement with NADH and D-ribose should be best reported to a doctor, who will assess the benefit-risk ratio of its inclusion in therapy and, if necessary, recommend the appropriate dosage of both preparations.
