Hello, I suffer from thrombophilia and my gynecologist has prescribed me ZAFRILLA to take for 2 years. Could it have undesirable effects on thrombus formation?

Thrombophilia, both congenital and acquired, increases the risk of blood clots in the circulatory system. Hormonal contraception, such as Zafrilla, may further increase this risk. Estrogens contained in hormonal contraceptives stimulate the coagulation system, which leads to an increase in the concentration of fibrinogen in the blood and increases the risk of thrombosis.
Women with thrombophilia are more likely to suffer from thromboembolic complications, and the use of hormonal contraception can exacerbate these problems. It is important to carefully discuss with your gynaecologist the risks of taking Zafrilla and any alternative methods of contraception that may be safer for thrombophilia.
