Does Sutriheal Forte 5% ointment contain St. John's wort extract and does it affect the effectiveness of contraceptive pills?
9.99 zł

I use contraception, monophasic combined pills, but I got an open wound with blood, on which I put very large amounts of ointment.
I read that there is St. John's wort in the composition. The ointment is SutriHeal 5% ichthyol ointment apparently there is St. John's wort in Sutriheal, What if I used the ointment on an open wound with blood, so the St. John's wort contained in the ointment got into the bloodstream and can negatively reduce the effectiveness of the pills ...?

SutriHeal Forte 5% ointment does not contain St. John's wort and its use does not affect the effectiveness of contraceptive pills.

SutriHeal Forte 5% is an ointment containing natural Norwegian spruce resin (Picea abies), which contains compounds that accelerate wound healing.
According to the manufacturer: "The ointment should not be used in conditions where large amounts of polyethylene glycol can be absorbed, especially in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment." If you are a healthy person (without kidney disease) - there is no reason to worry, the ointment can be applied directly to the wound.

As for the ichthyol ointment mentioned in the question, although it does not affect the effectiveness of contraception - it should not be used on damaged skin, including open wounds.
