Is it normal to have spotting when using Evra patches?
9.99 zł

Hello, I have been using Evra contraceptive patches for three months, before that I took birth control pills for two years. I have never had spotting on pills and my period appeared every day. I'm currently on my third patch and my period should appear in a week during the break, and I've had brown spotting for three days? Is this normal for contraception or is it a cause for concern?

To @Jola:

Bleeding does not affect the effectiveness of the contraception used.

However, if the bleeding is prolonged and intense, I encourage you to consult a doctor. Prolonged bleeding can lead, m.in to anemia. You can also take advantage of teleconsultation, e.g. via the Gdziepolek.pl portal:

Even if brown bleeding with clots persists for more than three days, is it still okay? During the third slice

Mid-cycle spotting during the first 3-4 months of wearing the patches may occur and should not be alarming.

If you use the patches correctly, do not take other medications that may affect their action, there is no reason to worry, protection is provided despite spotting.

I've attached links to helpful entries:

Spotting can be caused, m.in, by stress, a decrease in immunity or a change in diet. We talk about the potential causes of spotting during hormonal contraception in our short video:
