Will a 7-day treatment with Metronidazole, Duomox, and Helicid be enough to fight H.Pylori?
9.99 zł

Hello! I have gastric erosions and heligobacter. I was prescribed metronidazole at a dose of 500mg, duomox 1g and helicid 20mg all 2 times a day. The doctor recommended taking these drugs for 10 days, but after metronidazole I have dizziness, the doctor recommended shortening the treatment to 7 days. Will such a time be effective or should I rather expect that it will not be cured?

Treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection usually requires a combination therapy of several drugs to ensure efficacy and prevent bacterial resistance. Standard treatment regimens for H. pylori usually include the use of two antibiotics and a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) for 7 to 14 days. Typical antibiotics used to treat H. pylori are metronidazole, clarithromycin, amoxicillin - just like in your case. A period of 7 days of treatment with the use of drugs 2x a day should be sufficient, but the final decision should always be made by a doctor. If the dizziness is not severe enough to shorten the treatment time by these 3 days - it may be worth considering the originally prescribed therapy.
