Amotaxs Dis is used at a dose of 40 - 90 mg per kg body weight in 2 or 3 divided doses. This means that the daily dose of the drug for a child weighing 20 kg is 800 - 1800 mg of amoxicillin. With two doses a day, it is between 400 and 900 mg at a time.
The dose of the drug 2x 500 mg is the dose within the calculated range.
