Can I start taking Xifaxan 4 days after colonoscopy?
30.00 zł

Hello, On Monday 10.06 I had a colonoscopy with the removal of a 3mm polyp. I should also start taking xifaxan this week. I take it 3 times a day for a week with a one-month break. Can I start taking it on Friday or does there have to be a longer time gap between colonoscopy and taking xifaxan?

Yes, if you do not experience intestinal discomfort that may occur after a colonoscopy, such as increased tension and abdominal pain, I do not see any contraindications to starting Xifaxan treatment on Friday. However, if you do experience them, it is worth discussing with your doctor a possible postponement of the start of the drug in time, as Xifaxan in some patients may cause gastrointestinal ailments, e.g. abdominal pain, increased tension, bloating, thus intensifying the discomfort that may occur after colonoscopy.
