Is it safe to use Fresubin 2kcal instead of Fresubin DB in people with diabetes?
15.01 zł

Hello
My grandmother is diabetic type 2, she was given fresubin 2kcal instead of fresubin db. I don't know the glycemic index of 2kcal. Knowing that she only takes metformin, do you think it's very serious for her blood sugar?

Fresubin 2kcal contains much more carbohydrates, in second place in the composition is glucose syrup, which can suddenly and significantly increase blood glucose levels. The composition of this preparation also includes fats and protein, which can slow down the absorption of carbohydrates to some extent, slightly reducing the intensity of glucose spikes. Its consumption by people with diabetes can nevertheless significantly affect glycemic control. I would recommend that you consult your doctor about this, and if you need to use it - you should do it carefully, monitoring your blood glucose levels. Fresubin DB is a better solution for people with type 2 diabetes due to its low glycemic index and composition adapted for diabetics, it allows for better glycemic control.
