When using the vaginal drug with metronidazole (an antibacterial and antiprotozoal drug), it is usually recommended to avoid sexual intercourse. Sexual intercourse can interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment, as friction and contact can affect the distribution of the drug in the vagina. In addition, if metronidazole is used to treat infections such as bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis, there is a risk of transmitting the infection to your partner.
