No. Carvedilol (the active substance in Avedol) is not a diuretic. It is a beta-blocker and alpha-blocker, mainly used in the treatment of hypertension, heart failure and angina. Carvedilol works by blocking beta-adrenergic and alpha-adrenergic receptors, which leads to a decrease in heart rate, dilation of blood vessels and a decrease in blood pressure.
