Any drug can cause a hypersensitivity reaction, and in addition, Sorbifer (and other preparations containing iron) can cause poisoning in children. Allergy can be caused by the active substance and excipients that are an ingredient of the tablet, but it is worth checking whether the problem is actually an allergy (which may make it difficult to choose iron preparations) or a general intolerance to the drug and the occurrence of side effects. The most common side effects are related to gastrointestinal disorders.
