Good morning! While preparing an injection of methotrexate for my husband, as I do every week, I accidentally cut myself with a needle while opening the drug. I didn't have time to push the drug yet. Was it possible for me to take any dose of the drug with such contact? I'm asking because my husband and I are trying to have a baby.

During the needlestick implant embedded in a ready-made pre-filled syringe, the possibility of contact with a small amount of the preparation cannot be ruled out. If you have a needlestick injury, contact your doctor to assess the risk and decide what next steps to take.
People trying to conceive and pregnant should not come into contact with drugs as potent as methotrexate. This medicine affects spermatogenesis and oogenesis and may reduce fertility. In addition, it is recommended that as a precaution during the use of the drug and three months after its discontinuation, both women and men taking it use contraception.
