There is no specific timeline for how long you can stop taking Mestinon for myasthenia gravis treatment. However, it is noted that in most patients, discontinuation of mycophenolate, another treatment for myasthenia gravis, may result in an exacerbation of the disease about 16 weeks after stopping treatment.
Therefore, it is not recommended to stop taking Mestinon on your own, as this may make your myasthenia gravis symptoms worse. The decision to suspend or change the dosage of this medicine should only be made after consultation with the treating physician, who will assess the patient's clinical condition and determine the most appropriate therapeutic treatment.
