Could methotrexate have been absorbed through the skin if a drop fell on the child's hand?

Hello, my husband injects himself with methotrexate every week. Yesterday, by accident, his son ran up to him while he was applying and literally a drop fell on the child's hand when he opened it. I caught the child very quickly and washed his hand thoroughly, but could the drug have been absorbed by the temporary contact between the drug and the skin?

There is no reason to worry. Methotrexate will not be absorbed into the body with such short-term contact with the skin. If irritation/allergy occurs at the site of contact of the drug with the skin, you can use a soothing cream, e.g.:
