The Drovilis pill (ethinylestradiol + drospirenone) does not cause permanent infertility. It helps regulate menstrual cycles and reduce symptoms associated with excess androgens, such as hirsutism and acne. However, it can trigger temporary infertility by blocking ovulation, which typically returns within 3 to 6 months after stopping the pills.
Combined oral contraceptives such as Drovilis are often prescribed to women who suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS slightly increases the risk of complications during pregnancy (gestational diabetes, hypertension, etc.), but close medical supervision can prevent them.
If you want to get pregnant, your gynaecologist will recommend that you stop taking the pills a few months before you try to get pregnant. If the cycles remain irregular, other treatments such as metformin or ovulation induction may be considered.
