The recommendation to check the color of the IUD when visiting the toilet or changing the IUD indicates that leaving the IUD next to the body for a long time (when there is no feeling of moisture) does not affect the reliability of the AmnioCheck test. The colour of the pad changes under the influence of the pH of the fluids and does not depend on the influence of air. The test detects even minimal amniotic fluid leakage.

Any change in the color of the IUD to blue or green should be consulted with the attending physician. A watery stain on underwear can indicate amniotic fluid leakage, but also urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence can occur during pregnancy and is not dangerous to the fetus. Then the insole remains yellow.
A change in the color of the IUD to blue may indicate a leak of amniotic fluid, but also a possible vaginal infection. Both cases require consultation.
