A large number of drugs may interfere with the action of Warfin, but the ingredients found in Grintuss syrup appear to be safe - the summary of product characteristics does not indicate the risk of pharmacologically significant interactions. Grintuss contains mainly honey and plantain and helichrysum extracts.
Herbs to avoid are listed in the package leaflet:
"Herbal medicines and natural products:
If you are already taking some of the herbal medicines listed below, you should consult your doctor before stopping taking them. Herbal medicines containing ginkgo biloba (Ginkgo biloba), garlic (Allium sativum), angelica (Angelica sinensis), papaya (Carica papaya) and sage (Salvia miltiorrhiza) may increase the effect of Warfin. On the other hand, St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) and ginseng (Panax spp.) reduce the effect. Therefore, taking the above-mentioned herbal remedies must not be started or stopped while taking Warfin without consulting your doctor."
Grintuss syrup is used for upper respiratory tract catarrh. It protects the mucous membrane of the throat and reduces irritation. It can be used in the treatment of both wet and dry cough (it does not interfere with the cough reflex). It is available in a variant for children (Grintuss Pediatric) and for adults (Grintuss Adult).
