How long does Tetracyclinum stay in my body after treatment and when can I drink alcohol?
13.00 zł

Hello. I take Tetracyclinum 250 mg for Helicobacter for 14 days. 2 tablets every 6 hours in combination with other medicines. I have a question, namely, how long does this drug last in the body after treatment? I'll finish my treatment on Wednesday and I'd like to drink alcohol on Saturday. Best regards

Tetracycline is an antibiotic that has a half-life in the body of about 8-10 hours, which means that after this time, half of the drug is excreted from the body. It takes about 4-5 days for tetracycline to be fully removed from the body. After 4-5 days from the end of the 14-day treatment, the concentration of the drug in the body will be very low.
Therefore, in order to avoid interactions between tetracycline and alcohol, it is recommended to refrain from drinking alcohol for at least 2-3 days after the end of the treatment. In your case, it would be best to wait until Saturday, i.e. 4 days after the end of treatment.

Remember that alcohol can also affect the effects of other medicines you are taking as part of your Helicobacter pylori treatment. It can also increase the risk of gastrointestinal side effects.

If you experience side effects such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea during treatment with tetracycline, it is advisable to be careful with your alcohol consumption to avoid getting these symptoms worse.

In conclusion, although Tetracycline should be excreted from the body by Saturday, it is always worth making sure that there are no other factors that may affect the safety of alcohol consumption. If you are concerned about this situation, it is always a good idea to consult a doctor who can give you more personalized advice.
