Good morning. Can Argosulfan cream be used as directed by a doctor for the entire healing period of a burn wound? Are there any new recommendations that it should not be used after second-degree burns?

Information in the summary of product characteristics of Argosulfan:
1. 'Argosulfan is used topically to treat infections in the case of:
- skin burns of all degrees (including radiation burns);
-Pressure ulcers;
- chronic leg ulcers."
2. "The wound should be covered with cream throughout the treatment. If, for some reason, Part of the wound will be exposed, the exposed areas should be covered with a fresh layer of cream. A wound dressing is not necessary, but can be applied in justified cases. Argosulfan should be used until the wound has healed or a skin graft has been performed."
Some doctors and nurses specializing in wound treatment are currently choosing other methods of treatment, using specialized dressings (e.g. hydrogel dressings) to accelerate the reconstruction of damaged skin.
