The Summary of Product Characteristics does not indicate the possibility of constipation with this medicine. Sulpiride can be used in intestinal diseases because it improves blood flow and mucus secretion through the mucous membranes of the stomach and duodenum and has an antiemetic effect. By acting on specific receptors within the intestine, it causes increased transit and reduces the discomfort associated with constipation. Sulpiride can be used in the course of irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. An additional mood-enhancing effect is conducive to the reduction of intestinal ailments caused by stress.
