Good morning
I have difficult contact with a gynaecologist until the end of the week. I'm pregnant, I got e.coli in my swab. I got Amotaxi 2x1 plus vaginal globules with Augumentin. I didn't ask if I should take them at the same time or if I should take one at the same time, then the other.

Regarding the dosage of Amotaxi and Augmentin globules, you should follow the information given to you by your doctor. Due to the fact that both drugs contain the same active ingredient, at the same time they differ in the route of administration - the treatment regimen can be twofold:
1. Your doctor may prescribe Amotaxic orally and vaginal globules in parallel - provided that the daily dose of amoxicycline is not exceeded (no overdose of this substance occurs), then globules with Augmentin will enhance the effect of amoxicycline taken orally.
2. Your doctor may prescribe the use of globules after the end of oral therapy with Amotaxem - as maintenance treatment.
That being said, it may be necessary to consult a specialist who will ultimately decide which dosing regimen is right for you. It is difficult to suggest a specific method of treatment based on such a short description.
If you have an E. coli infection, it usually takes 7 days, but your doctor may also recommend 10-14 days of treatment. Marked improvement usually occurs after 2-3 days of treatment. A follow-up urine culture should be performed 1-2 weeks after the end of the antibiotic.
It is also worth implementing general rules to reduce the risk of urinary tract infections:
- drinking enough fluids a day (at least 1.5 liters)
- when you need to urinate, do not postpone it; You should always urinate after sexual intercourse
- you should wash your genitals every day and always before sexual intercourse, e.g. Provag emulsion: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/89230/provag-specjalistyczna-emulsja-do-higieny-intymnej-plyn/apteki

- wipe from front to back, which prevents the movement of bacteria from the anal area to the urethral orifice area
- Avoid bathing.
If you are concerned about this situation, it is always a good idea to consult a doctor who can give you more personalized advice. If you do not have the opportunity to take advantage of the advice, I am attaching a link to the online teleconsultation:
