Will coughing right after swallowing the contraceptive chart affect its effectiveness? What can be done to prevent the situation from happening again in the following days?

I swallowed birth control pills and later coughed and now I feel it between my nose and throat. I try to swallow, drink or eat but I still feel it there. My fear is that it won't cover me or that it might happen again in the following days. What am I to do?

If you swallowed a pill and the cough came right after, there is no need to worry. By this time, the pill has already passed into the stomach and contraceptive protection should be maintained. The discomfort and foreign body sensation between your nose and throat may be due to mechanical irritation or residual discharge if you have an infection.

To prevent the situation from repeating itself, please remember that the medication should be taken with water, it is best to drink 200ml with a sip of the tablet.

If, despite everything, you are not sure about this situation, it is always a good idea to consult a doctor who can give you more personalized advice. If you do not have the opportunity to take advantage of the advice, I am attaching a link to the online teleconsultation:
