Do you stop taking this medicine Neoparin after caesarean section is reasonable ? What is the risk of thrombosis?

Is it necessary to take Neoparin after cesarean, when you move well and there is no risk of thrombosis? The doctor prescribed 1 injection for 10 days, but added that after you feel better, you can stop the injections. How competent is it on his part?

If you feel well and, above all, try to move around the house as much as possible, the risk of complications in the form of thrombosis decreases significantly. The doctor applied prophylactic treatment in the form of Neoparin injections, which is a very good practice, especially in the first days of the postpartum period. As you gain strength and increase the amount of movement throughout the day, you may want to consider stopping the medication as recommended by your doctor.

In order to prevent the occurrence of thrombotic disease in the postpartum period, you should drink a lot and watch your body carefully. The most important issue, however, remains movement. Nowadays, in most hospitals, a woman gets up two hours after giving birth. It is worth remembering that even a few steps taken in the first moments of the postpartum period are important. Do not go to bed permanently. Rest is important, but a little exercise can prevent serious problems.

Thrombotic disease in the puerperium can affect superficial veins, deep veins or veins located in the pelvic area. It involves the formation of a clot that can move with the flow of blood. In the case of superficial vein thrombosis, the main symptom is redness of the skin over a painful thickening of the vein. This can be accompanied by pain (especially when moving) or numbness in the leg, as well as swelling, which in the case of thrombosis may affect only one leg – this can be distinguished from swelling caused by other causes.

In the case of deep vein thrombosis, symptoms such as increased temperature, increased heart rate, swelling of the limb, increased limb circumference (similarly to swelling will affect only one limb, which makes it easier to diagnose and notice this symptom), leg soreness, can be observed. The skin on the leg where the blood clot is present will be tight and shiny.

When it comes to pelvic thrombophlebitis, it is a fairly rare complication of the puerperium, but if it does occur, it can be very dangerous in its consequences. It manifests itself as pain in the lower abdomen, nausea, stool retention and typical symptoms of inflammation such as increased temperature.

Please watch your body carefully and pay special attention to the above symptoms. If you are concerned about anything, please contact your doctor.
