The decision to use Transtec patches for the treatment of phantom pain should be made after consultation with a physician.
Phantom pain refers to absent parts of the body, e.g. after amputation. Combined pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy and rehabilitation are used to alleviate phantom pain. Pharmacotherapy includes analgesics, including opioids, but also anticonvulsants and antidepressants. The selection of the appropriate treatment depends, m.in, on the patient's general condition.
