What medications are used for carbohydrate malabsorption syndrome?

Are there any medications available in Poland for carbohydrate malabsorption syndrome (lactose and starch)?
If so, please let me know their names.

How is carbohydrate AS treated?

To @Natalia:

"People with SIBO usually have low levels of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, as well as iron, folic acid and vitamin B12. Therefore, enriching the menu with products that are their source is essential. A good solution will be to include eggs, fish, good quality meat, nuts, oils, as well as spinach and kale in your daily menu. It is also worth mentioning the LOW FODMAP nutritional system, whose beneficial effects in the case of SIBO are confirmed by many studies. It consists in limiting poorly absorbed and at the same time easily fermentable carbohydrates in the diet, which are the source of digestive problems."

Thank you for your reply. Are there any other medications available besides the digestive enzymes you mentioned that can be used for malabsorption syndrome (lactose and starch)?
If so, please let me know their names. I'm looking for ones that have the status of a drug. They may be available by prescription or OTC.

Encorton is a steroid medication and should be used when your doctor deems it appropriate.

I am attaching a link that allows you to check the availability of the drug and make a reservation at the pharmacy of your choice:

https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/27147/encorton-tabletki/apteki

The dose of Pangrol 10,000 is according to the package leaflet: "The recommended dose is 2 – 4 capsules of Pangrol 10000 with each meal (equivalent to 20,000 to 40,000 U. Ph. Eur. lipase).

The dosage depends on the severity of the digestive disorder. You may need to take higher doses. Increasing the dosage requires prior consultation with a physician and should aim to improve symptoms (e.g. fatty stools, stomach pain).

The daily dose of 15,000-20,000 lipase units per kilogram of body weight should not be exceeded."

There is no time limit as to the duration of therapy. The length of treatment depends, m.in, on the course of the disease and should be determined by the doctor.

Other medicines that facilitate the digestion of starch are listed in the tab:

https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/41628/kreon-travix-kapsulki/zamienniki

There are also numerous dietary supplements available in online and brick-and-mortar pharmacies to support the digestion of carbohydrates.

Thank you for your reply.
I would also like to ask if steroids such as Encorton can also be used in the treatment of carbohydrate malabsorption syndrome?

How long can I take Pangrol? In what dose per day?

Apart from the drugs you mentioned, are there any other drugs available in Poland for carbohydrate malabsorption syndrome? If so, which ones?

To @Natalia:

Starch is digested by the enzyme amylase.

Amylase is one of the ingredients available in online and stationary pharmacies of preparations such as:

Creon Travix:

Pangrol:

The symptoms of malabsorption in Crohn's disease can be alleviated by appropriate treatment of the underlying disease. In this case, the treatment should be consulted with the attending physician.

Natalia (Anonymous, 37.109.166.) 7 months ago

Thank you for the information.
I already have dietary recommendations. I developed carbohydrate malabsorption syndrome with Crohn's disease. Are there any drugs available in Poland for this particular case? If so, which ones? Are there enzymes available in pharmacies to help digest starch? If so, under what name do they appear? I'm mainly looking for those that have the status of a drug. A problem with the pancreas has been ruled out.

Treatment of malabsorption syndrome should begin with the diagnosis of its causes. Diagnostics should be carried out after consultation with a doctor. If it is not possible to visit the site, I encourage you to take advantage of the teleconsultation via e.g. the Gdziepolek.pl portal:

https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja

Carbohydrate malabsorption syndrome may result from, for example, pancreatic disorders, intestinal flora disorders, viral infections.

Until you consult your doctor, I encourage you to take advantage of the advice of a dietician, e.g. in the form of a teleconsultation:

https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja/z-dietetykiem

On the basis of the reported symptoms, the dietician will indicate the products approved for consumption and the recommended dietary exclusions. A proper diet should help eliminate symptoms from the digestive system.

On an ad hoc basis, in order to reduce the ailments, preparations that facilitate the digestion of carbohydrates can be used. In the case of a deficiency of the lactase enzyme that digests lactose, over-the-counter preparations can be used, such as:

https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/42164/lactocontrol-tabletki-powlekane/apteki

https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/97518/lactaza-tabs-tabletki/apteki

Digestive enzymes that support the digestion of other carbohydrates are available in preparations such as:

https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/86963/dpp-complex-kapsulki/apteki

https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/41628/kreon-travix-kapsulki/apteki

https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/59208/pangrol-25000-kapsulki/apteki

These preparations are available in online and brick-and-mortar pharmacies. Choosing the offer of an online pharmacy allows you to compare prices and order preparations with home delivery or personal collection at the pharmacy of your choice.

In cities such as Warsaw, Wrocław, Łódź or Białystok, products can be ordered with instant delivery even in 1 hour thanks to the Wolt Drive service - check if the service is available in your location:

I encourage you to familiarize yourself with additional materials that you may find useful:

User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
