If your doctor has prescribed you Xigduo, it means that he or she considers it reasonable to use metformin as well. However, if for some reason you do not want to take metformin, the best thing to do is to talk to your doctor, get his or her approval, and ask for a prescription for Forxiga.
Xigduo and Forxiga are not substitutes, so formally the pharmacist cannot substitute them when filling a prescription. In fact, if you were prescribed dapagliflozin and metformin separately, you would have the right not to buy one of the medicines. It is therefore difficult for me to decide how other pharmacists might approach this situation. I think it may depend on your individual situation and arguments.
