Pseudoephedrine is not a recommended medication for women who are breastfeeding. Although it is not excreted into milk to a small extent (about 4-5% of the mother's dose can be found in milk), it can interfere with the process of milk production and reduce its production (in 8 women taking 60 mg of pseudoephedrine, a decrease in milk production by 24% was observed). It has been noted that some children experience side effects after exposure to the drug through breast milk, irritability has been reported.
